Bug Dome

Isn't nature wonderful! Down there in the leaf litter, deep in the bark layers, under the rotten log, the leafy bush and the flake of granite the ecosystem's micro-processes grind on unnoticed. Until dusk that is. Now the stage expands and the invertebrates come out to share our world. With a Bug Dome you can take cover but still enjoy the evening cool and the expanding night sky.

Size

With a floor size of 1250mm by 2300mm and a roof height of 1000mm the Bug Dome has heaps of room for two people and gear. You can maintain a healthy distance from the mesh walls on those warm nights and keep eveything within easy reach.

Architecture

The Bug Dome uses a pair of long, 'double-crossing' poles over a rectangular floor pan to create a spacious enclosure for two people. The design not only tensions the mesh panels very well but provides sit-up head room over much of the floor area. It also make a firm platform for the fly-sheet's transverse pole. 

Tent Features

The Bug Dome has one, big semi-circular arc-zip door on a long side. The floor is made from a lightweight coated nylon designed more to complete the enclosure rather than as a durable, totally waterproof tub. (This would incur a considerable weight penalty). Nevertheless the floor will resist a sudden downpour, just don't use it as a boat. While the Bug Dome does not require pegs it is a good idea to place at least a few. Four are provided with the tent so use them to prevent a sudden fresh breeze taking your tent for a cartwheel or two.

Rain Fly Features

The Bug Dome Rain Fly is made from siliconised 40d polyester and simply clips down to the corners of the tent. A simple, transverse pole rests across the across the ridge of the tent with ends located in pockets under the edge of the rain-fly. The overhang of the rain-fly is so generous in windless conditions this effectively shadows the mesh enclosure from rain.
